Start with the door and walking route
Before choosing decorations, open the door fully and walk the route you use when carrying bags. Keep the threshold, door handle, steps and handrail easy to reach. Mark the space the door needs with removable paper or a photograph so that a display does not slowly spread into it. A small porch works best when the entrance still feels easy to use.
Choose one focal point and a simple palette
Pick a main accent rather than filling every surface. Orange pumpkins can be the warm focal point; colorful ghosts create a more playful mix.
